This weekend we piloted our first Kids gardening class. We learned about soil, composting, played in dirt, passed around worms, made our own soil and planted some sunflowers to bring home. Thanks to my daughter, her friends and their parents! Would you be interested in a kids gardening class? Let@us know, we’d love to do it again.
😭30 min drumroll to bid farewell to @_archestratus_
@_archestratus_ closing breaks my heart so much. No business has done more to build community, support neighbors, and just spread love through joy, creativity and food than Archestratus. Paige built something so beautiful and special and it physically hurts to see it go. Whenever there was a community in need she had a fundraiser. Whenever someone was trying to start something special in Greenpoint she was there. When I started All things Grow she was one of the first people I spoke with for advice. Heck, I’m not there today (sadly) because I’m in my own shop, which she 100% inspired. Hopefully I can pop in after we close to say a goodbye to Archestratus, one of the places that made me love Greenpoint (and Brooklyn and NYC) so much.
Excited to join our friends at @ilegalmezcal tomorrow for an Earth Day party to raise money for the @javastgarden . We’ll be raffling off a mushroom growing kit and also have plants, seeds and plenty more for sale. It will be at 96 West. Al’s shop is open this weekend (and later today!)
Happy Earth Day! Here’s a video I made showing how to make your own soil. It’s a lot of fun. Not so sure how I am at making videos but my plants are happy with the soil, and that’s what counts!
New info: Compost is from @hemlockhillfarmny and is amazing. If you’re in the northern Westchester NY area highly recommend checking them out. In addition to compost they have a great farm stand and prepared meal options.
